The 4-H Club Program emphasizes the development of life skills. Through participation, youth expand their communication, problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Involvement in public presentations is important in expanding these skills. Record keeping provides opportunities for using information to make decisions.

Youth care for and about others. Community service projects contribute to learning more about others. These projects account for a substantial portion of the 4-H club experience and vary by community. In some communities, intergenerational projects are important and contribute to youth expanding their knowledge of elders. In others, they contribute to a clean and healthy environment.

Youth explore career choices. Trips and hands-on experiences offer opportunities to observe and analyze career possibilities. Through projects, youth spend time with a person in a job that appeals to them.

Youth seek to learn, have fun, and make lasting friendships. All youth want to have outlets for fun, and 4-H Clubs provide a variety of opportunities at the local, county, regional, state and national level.

Tractor Safety Class
This course kicks off on February 8, and continues for 8 total sessions (2 hours each). Attendance at all sessions is required. Cost for Ontario County Residents is $25, Out-of-County Residents, $35.

4-H Enrollment Time
It is time to join the fun of 4-H in Ontario County. New members are always welcome.
4-H members get together to learn about projects in lots of areas. Some members learn about animals while others explore food and nutrition, clothing construction, heritage crafts, gardening or woodworking to name a few. Many 4-H members do projects in more than one project area.

The youngest members of 4-H are called Cloverbuds. These members, age 5-8, participate in club activities and are discovering 4-H during this time. Traditional
4-H Club members are 8-19. 4-H clubs are a wonderful opportunity for youth to learn to work together learning life skills. 4-H is known for their Public Presentation program that helps members develop speaking skills by presenting to small groups. Other programs that highlight 4-H in the county are Harvest Food Fest, 4-H Expo, community service and the Ontario County Fair.
