Supporting Quality Child Care

Strengthening families and individuals is the primary goal of Cornell Cooperative Extension's Family and Consumer Child Development Program.

As part of the Family Child Development programming of Cornell Cooperative Extension-Ontario, we are committed to addressing the needs of childcare providers across the county, by providing training and information to increase their competence. Providing research-based information will increase their competence to enable them to advocate for quality environments for children.

Annual Child Caregivers Workshop Day is held in the fall of each year.
Childcare providers can select from a variety of workshops and obtain hours toward the NYS Training Requirements for a registration/license period.

Topics included are:

  • Principles of Early Childhood Development
  • Nutrition and Health Needs of Infants and Toddlers
  • Business Records Maintenance and Management
  • Child Day Care Program Development
  • Safety and Security Procedures
  • Child Abuse and Maltreatment Identification and Prevention
  • Statutes and Regulation Pertaining to Child Abuse
  • Statues and Regulation Pertaining to Child Day Care
